This weekend I’m excited to perform Christopher Rouse’s Violoncello Concerto with the Albany Symphony. After we met at the Baltimore Festival of New Music last summer, Christopher asked me to learn it and I gladly took on the challenge of this extremely difficult piece. In the process, I’ve asked Christopher (and Yo-Yo Ma, the only other cellist in the world who has performed this piece!) for advice. In today’s episode, I’ll share their tips – many of which are universally helpful in learning any new piece – as I play through some of the most challenging passages.
Please let me know if you have any comments and/or questions, I would love to hear from you. Thank you for watching!!
