Ernest Bloch’s Schelomo: Rhapsodie Hébraïque – Musings with Inbal Segev

Hello Cellists,

Today I’ll be talking about Ernest Bloch’s Schelomo for cello and orchestra. Schelomo is the Hebrew name for King Solomon, who was called “the wisest man who ever lived.” In Bloch’s score, the cello is the voice of the protagonist, King Solomon, and the orchestra is portraying the people around him, so think majestic, ancient, and biblical as you practice this piece.
